Sustainability through Philanthropy | Darwin | For staff
A workshop on the key success factors, processes and systems required to build sustainable, long-term philanthropic programs, led by strategic fundraising expert Serhat Abdurazak.
Revenue from philanthropic fundraising is an essential source of income for small to medium arts organisations.
We’re presenting two workshops in Darwin this November on philanthropic fundraising developed specifically for NT arts organisations: one for staff who undertake fundraising as part of their roles; and one for board members, CEOs and senior leaders who are responsible for oversight and organisational strategy.
Both workshops will be led by strategic fundraising expert Serhat Abdurazak, who’ll share nearly 30 years’ experience working in development for the not-for-profit sector, including in the NT.
This workshop is for staff who have fundraising and development roles in NT arts and cultural organisations and will focus on the five key components of sustainable success in philanthropic fundraising: vision, leadership, strategy, prospects and programs, and resources and skills. It’s designed to engage discussion around:
- The key elements of a philanthropic fundraising strategy
- Comprehensive donor programs
- Fundraising policy: what are your values, who will you accept money from, what are you offering
- The development cycle, from identifying donors, cultivating the relationship, inviting them to become involved and stewarding the relationship
- Communicating with and engaging supporters and donors
- The resources and tools required to manage a donor program
- The roles and skills required of the board, patrons, CEO, executive and staff
There will be time for Q&A so come prepared with your questions and to have an honest, confidential discussion about the opportunities, challenges and pitfalls of arts fundraising with your peers.
We’re also presenting a complementary workshop for Senior executives, CEOs, GMs and members of the boards of arts and cultural organisations who provide organizational leadership, strategy and advice, at 5pm to 7.30pm the same day. This workshop is specifically designed for those with leadership and governance roles within an organisation and will focus on the importance of vision, leadership and strategy in fundraising. Find out more about this workshop.
If you’re unsure which workshop is the most appropriate for you to attend, please email NT State Manager Gwen Gaff at firstname.lastname@example.org to discuss.
