One of the key responsibilities of a non-for-profit board is to ensure their organisation has the resources and financial stability it needs to undertake its activities. As a board member you have an important role in fostering an environment in which fundraising can flourish.
Join us for a mini masterclass on how to lead your organisation to be successful in fundraising, with strategic arts fundraising expert Frankie Airey, as she shares over 30 years’ experience working in development and marketing for the not-for-profit sector.
How can you support staff to fundraise? What do you need to consider when planning fundraising activities and goals for the organisation? How can you can advocate for your organisation in a way that leads to fundraising success? Should you be introducing possible supporters, or should you contributing yourself? These questions and more will be discussed at this two-hour session for board members.

This event has two sessions: the 2pm-4pm session is for staff (general managers, executive directors or fundraising and development staff) and the 6pm – 8pm session is for board members. This is an informal session with plenty of time for Q&A. It will be a ‘Chatham House Rules’ opportunity to learn about how to boost fundraising in your organisation, and also to talk opening and honestly about the challenges.
About Frankie Airey
Frankie Airey is Director of Philanthropy Squared, a management consulting firm specialising in development and marketing for the non-profit sector. Frankie began her career in development in 1987 with the ground-breaking Campaign for Oxford University, the first major institutional campaign outside the United States. She moved to Australia in 1994 and became the first Development Director at the Victorian Arts Centre in Melbourne. During the 1990s, Frankie moved between the UK and Australia and has worked with leading universities and cultural institutions as both practitioner and consultant.
She established her advisory firm, Philanthropy Squared, in Australia in 2003 and built a team of associates to apply the experience and ideas behind the many successful development operations with which they have been involved. She has served on several boards including Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London and the Malthouse Theatre in Melbourne. Most recently, Frankie was appointed a Trustee of the Victorian Arts Centre Trust.
